A bit about Dr. Riordan
After growing up in Wisconsin, Laura Riordan has spent the past two decades in the much warmer climates of Florida and southern California. When she started college at Duke University she intended to continue on to medical school, however, after internships at the Duke Primate Center, a local veterinary hospital, and at a local farm, she realized she could combine her interest in medicine with her love of animals.
She earned her veterinary degree from the University of Illinois in 2002. After completion of her rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Florida Veterinary Specialists in Tampa, she moved on to a small animal internal medicine residency at the University of Florida. She achieved board certification in 2006 and worked for 5 years at a private practice in San Diego followed by 8 years in Southwest Florida.
In the summer of 2020, she escaped the heat of Florida and moved to Gig Harbor where she lives with her husband (who is also a veterinarian), her two boys, and two dogs (a Golden Retriever and a terrier). When she is not busy watching her boys play soccer or playing with them, she enjoys road biking, baking, and hiking with her family. After years in Florida, she loves seeing the seasonal changes and the snow capped mountains.
